Bespoke Process

"Sophie, is it possible you could make..." is a great way to start a conversation that'll get me hooked.

I'll be thinking about all the possibilities for your idea and how to make it happen until I spontaneously combust from all the curiosity. Usually I'll start with all your wants and needs from the piece and add the little special details and thread in bits of wonder through the piece.

Step 1: Email me and we'll have a chat

We'll get coffee or email back and forth, and I'll listen to the ideas you have. I ask lots of questions and leave with a good sense of where we're going with the project.

Step 2: Design

The creative process of thinking and drawing out the things we talked about and the little things I might have picked up along the way. 

For this set of rings, my lovely customers wanted an engagement ring and wedding bands for each of them. They'd just inherited a giant heavy wedding ring from a very loved family member and wanted to incorporate that throughout the rings, even though the men's band was to be platinum! I had the idea to create a gold inlay in the platinum ring with a thin strip of gold on the inside of the band to make sure the gold ran through all of their rings. I also had the idea to include a small diamond on the inside of the wedding rings as a symbol for their son. 

Step 3: Quotes and time plan

Discussions for time limitations and budgets will have already been had so there won't be any big surprises here but we'll get it all ironed out. I take a 50% deposit and 50% after the work is finished. I'm happy to set up a payment plan too. 

Step 4: Start work

I start work after everything has been confirmed! There are usually some back and forth about the design before hand - it's so important to get it all right. 

Step 5: Your piece is ready 

Your piece is ready to be worn and loved!
